New Free Range Chikun - First Steps

Post by exonfang » Mon Oct 02, 2017 10:32 pm

This guide contains information for newly accepted chikuns, if you have not yet applied to fweddit, please read this thread first!

If you are where you're supposed to be, Welcome! Because of the emergent nature of gameplay in EVE, out-of-game communication channels are vitally important to any organization's success. As such, we have a few different services on both a alliance and coalition level. Important Note: Alliance and Coalition auth are completely separate services from each other!

We use Discord primarily for all text communications and corp chat rooms, we use Mumble for our voice communications, and we use forums to primarily post guides, ship fittings, and important announcements. This guide will explain all three services and how to get setup.

Everyone is required to have all services set up! We understand that having multiple services to authenticate on can be annoying or confusing, so if you have any questions at all, please ping @HumanResources for assistance with getting any of these set up.

Fweddit Services
If you get lost, make sure you're in our public discord channel and ping @Human Resources for help.

We use discord as the primary means of communication within the corporation, and as such most channels are active pretty much 24/7. Most of the core members hang out in the #freerangechikuns channel. Please be mindful about keeping any opsec related discussion out of #freerange-public!

Don't see the #freerangechikuns channel? You need to setup Discord with our Auth! For instructions on how to get this setup, follow the details below
In order to fully use our discord you have to have an account on our auth. Since you're reading this, I'm assuming you've applied to the corp, and have been accepted in-game already.
  1. If you don't already have Discord installed and an account created, do so now by visiting
  2. Go to The Dashboard
  3. Click on Services in the sidebar of the dashboard.
  4. Click on the Checkmark in the same row as Discord, enter the same password and username that you use for Discord.
  5. You will be redirected to the dashboard.
  6. If you did everything correctly, the Fweddit server on discord should now show the #fweddit channel and your name should appear light green. If this is the case, congratulations! You're done.
You can join the discussion on additional topics by applying to them via the "Groups" link on Auth. Some of these groups require someone to accept your application, and others are auto-accepted on request.

Protip: No one in Fweddit uses Discord for voice communication... see the Mumble section below.
The Forums
  • Go to the Services page in Fweddit Auth:
  • There will be a column labeled "phpBB3 Forum": hit the green check mark to activate your forums account.
  • You can change your Forums password by hitting the yellow pencil in this column after you have made an account.
  • Login to our forums by clicking HERE
We use these forums for internal corp discussions. We will often post larger announcements, corporation leadership updates, real-life meetups, and other similar topics here. They also contain some very handy guides that can probably answer most questions a young chikun may have.
We use Mumble for all our fleet communications.

To receive your Mumble credentials for the Fweddit mumble server, follow the steps in this spoiler tag:
  • If you haven't already, download mumble. (
  • Go to the Services page in Fweddit Auth:
  • There will be a column labeled "Mumble". Hit the green checkmark to setup your mumble account, and the yellow pencil to change your password.
  • Boot up mumble and click Connect, and then Add a New Server with the following information, using your own name and password, obviously:
  • There may not be a password field when you first connect, this is normal, just proceed and continue through any spooky popups and it will eventually prompt you to punch in your password.
Coalition Services
We also have services for our coalition, it is the exact same platform as our corp auth and the setup instructions are the same:

Below is the coalition mumble info, again this process will be identical to fweddit mumble:
We will be using coalition mumble for the majority of fleet ops
Please go through and get all your services up and running on both auth platforms so you can get all the latest info on our corp and alliance activities!
